Hung along the front of our fireplace are five stockings: one for myself, one for my husband, one for our son and two for our fur babies. The holidays are all about spending time with loved ones and that includes our beloved pets. I was excited to be able to collaborate with Bow Wow Meow Boutique to create a Santa Paws photoshoot to capture those memories for families. As the owner Gretchen Ricketts and I were discussing the collaboration I shared that I would like to donate the proceeds and we both mentioned S.O.A.R. at the same time. I first heard of S.O.A.R. (Street Outreach Animal rescue) earlier this year when I started following them on facebook. Online they explain that they work with people experiencing homelessness or crisis due to domestic violence or health issues and their pets. They state:
We seek to preserve the bond between person and pet, and to remove barriers accessing services that pet ownership can bring. We recognize the huge benefit animals can bring in helping people get healthy, progress, and achieve stability.
I am so impressed with their innovative and holistic way of keeping families together, something that is especially important this time of year. As each of us love on our families both furry and not, I am glad there are organizations seeking to keep pets where they are loved most, and the Santa Paw Portrait event was able to raise $336.15 toward keeping families togethers.
